This is the view I see when I awake: the silhouette of my father’s early 20th century hobby horse atop baker’s rack bookshelves. I sleep in my paternal grandparents' four poster bed; I have the complete set of dresser and tall chest of drawers. My nightstand is a chest of drawers made by my maternal grandfather. My great uncle’s secretary contains books he used as a school master and volumes my paternal great grandfather brought with him from Germany.
